How to travel almost for free in Spain this summer

Summer is upon us, so what is better than traveling Spain and also, almost for free? The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of Spain (Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible) has launched a very exciting project for young people. They are offering discounts up to 90% for young people between 18 and 30 years old to use on public transport! That is amazing news.

Who qualifies for the discount?

This discount is offered to people between the ages of 18 and 30, born between January 1st 1994 and December 31, 2006, both inclusive. You need to be a Spanish citizen or a foreigner with legal recidency here in Spain.

What is the discount applied to?

There are 2 types of discounts, a 90% one and a 50% one.

The 90% discount is applied to medium distance trains, with the exception of high-speed lines. Also, you can benefit from this discount on state bus lines, such as Alsa.

The 50% discount is applied to high-speed lines (with a limitation of 30 euros per ticket), long distance trains, AVANT trains and Interrail passes sold through Renfe (10 days, 2 months).

The discount is applied to single and round-trip tickets.

A thing to keep in mind is that the discounted tickets will not cover any extra charges for baggage, cancellation or any other additional fees and charges.

You can register here and then you will receive a code by email. It is straightforward, you need to introduce your details exactly like in your documents. If you have CLAVE or a digital certificate, you will get your code instantly.

Once you receive it, keep your code and use it when buying train or bus tickets. The code is non-transferable.

Over a milion people have registered already, including myself! What are you waiting for?
